Top 5 ANNOYING Grammatical Mistakes!!!

Hello all,

Now this may seem nerdy as all hell, but one thing that gets under my skin is bad grammar!!! I was raised by a mother who minored in English, so perhaps that is why I am the way that I am (some of her influence rubbed off on me obviously, lol). But I think that is a good thing, and I wish more of the general public cared about proper and correct English. I wish it was stressed more in the schools as well!!!

I write formal correspondence for a living, so it is expected of me to produce pieces of high quality writing on a daily basis. I know not everyone has to pay attention to grammar like I do - but still, and without further a-do, here's my list!

1. Incorrect use of possessives - that is, adding apostrophes where they don't belong - ex: WRONG: The bridesmaid's looked beautiful. (What?! The bridesmaid's WHAT?!) CORRECT: The bridesmaid's ring glistened in the sun.

2.Incorrect adverb use - I hear this ALL THE TIME!!! No one ever uses "ly" anymore!!! ex: WRONG: Don't take it personal. CORRECT: Don't take it personally! I know this has almost become an expression to say it incorrectly, but STILL - it's wrong! LoL...Also: ex: WRONG: Most important, I want you to live a fruitful life. CORRECT: Most IMPORTANTLY,
I want you to live a fruitful life.

3.Saying, "I seen." Unfortunately I hear this WAY TOO OFTEN!!! It's not "I seen," DO NOT SAY "seen" unless you have a "have" or "has" in front of this! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....

4.INCORRECT USE OF THE VERB, "to be." Ex: WRONG: We was, they was, you is. That's enough to make me SCREAM! CORRECT: If you studied basic grammar in elementary school, you should know this!!! I should not have to provide an example here!! lol....

5.DOuble negatives - ex: WRONG: I don't have nothing. CORRECT: I don't have anything or I have nothing.

There are many more I can think of, but we'll just go with this for now...lol!
